Overview*
Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is 15-20 min from Livingstone town. It’s 66 km² and runs along the Zambezi River. It’s the only park in Zambia where you can see white rhinos in the wild.
What You’ll See on the Game Drive*
Wildlife:
- White rhinos: Main highlight – tracked with armed rangers on foot after the drive
- Other animals: Elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, hippos, impala, warthogs, bushbuck, waterbuck, sable, eland, kudu
- Predators: Rare, but occasional sightings of leopard/hyena
- Birds: 400+ species including fish eagles, kingfishers, herons
- Scenery: Zambezi River, Victoria Falls spray, riverine forest, grasslands
Typical Half-Day Tour Structure*
Duration: 3-4 hours total
- Hotel Pickup – 6:00am or 6:30am from Livingstone lodges . Early morning is best for active animals
- Game Drive – 2 to 2.5 hours in 4×4 open safari vehicle
- Drive through savannah and woodland sections
- Expert guide explains flora, fauna, animal behavior
- Stop for photos. Guides carry binoculars
3. Zambezi River Picnic Break
- Light picnic/snacks by the river included
- Bottled water, soft drinks,
- See hippos and crocs in the river
4. Rhino Walking Safari
- Park up and continue on foot with armed rangers/scouts
- Track white rhinos – you get 10-30 meters away
- Rangers share conservation info. Rhinos are guarded 24/7
5. Drop-off back at your hotel around 10:00-11:00am

- What to bring: Closed shoes for rhino walk, hat, sunscreen, camera, jacket for morning

Game Drive vs Full Safari
This is a shorter, easier safari vs Chobe or South Luangwa. No big cats guaranteed, but it’s excellent for rhinos + river scenery + combining with Victoria Falls in one day.
